Whiz Kid – Congratulations!

I would like to congratulate my 9 year old niece who is one of those chosen and represented her primary school in Singapore, in the Odyssey of the Mind National Finals. The competition was held in Singapore last April 11, 2009. Although she and her team mates may not have had the opportunity to bring home the trophy but the experience is worth the prize. The experience made her more confident to speak in public and improved her reasoning skills.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program participated by about 25 countries geared to provide creative problem solving for students from kindergarten to college. Participated in teams, team members present their solutions through building mechanical devices out of their own interpretations.

The Whiz Kid was born in Manila Philippines but started her nursery education in Singapore. Her daddy and mommy had chosen to live in Singapore due to daddy’s employment. At her young age, the Whiz Kid had already participated in various national competitions in Singapore. At 4 years old she won a drawing competition representing her school, titled Brush Your Teeth. The drawing was displayed in Esplanade Hall. Despite her hectic schedule in school and piles of homework to be done the Whiz Kid swims regularly, plays violin, and plays with her educational toys at home.
